Advocacy

ACBI is uniquely placed to influence policies that will increase support towards capacity development. Our Focus Areas include:

Education

Inadequate and poor quality of education is a cause of poverty at youth and adult stage. ACBI develops innovative strategies to ensure the youth access education at all levels. Through strategic partnerships with universities, private sector, charitable organizations and the public sector ACBI provides opportunities for poor and vulnerable youths to gain skills necessary for improving their lives.

Governance Leadership and entrepreneurial skills

Good governance and leadership are critical elements for entrepreneurial development which create jobs and contribute to the fight against poverty. ACBI offers capacity building and consultancy programmes to influence policy development in institutions and Governments to ensure they are responsive and accountable in their roles in order to realize sustainable growth.

 

Child Protection.

Poverty haunts children to the adulthood. ACBI addresses child poverty by improving the lives of poor families. ACBI with its partners aim to help poor communities attain education for their children by providing enabling support to families. Poor parents are supported to start and manage small scale businesses while children are supported directly by sponsorships from partners.

Food Security and the right to Food

Poverty and hunger is not only due to insufficient food production but largely because of systemic marginalization and exclusion that denies people access to natural and productive resources to feed themselves in dignity. ACBI strives for equal opportunity for all rural and urban poor to have the right to food, to produce, or to purchase safe, sufficient and nutritious food that is culturally acceptable. Poor rural communities are supported by ACBI by sharing information required to grow food and engage in sustainable agribusiness through skills transfer, Research and information sharing, policy advocacy and promoting justifiability and legislation.  We participates in facilitating interdisciplinary, policy research to promote the right to food and related issues. We translate research into policies and practices and providing policy-makers with the knowledge they need to promulgate policies that encourage the implementation of the Right to Food. ACBI assists in capacity building by providing training and a Right to Food curriculum adapted to different target audiences and provide stakeholders with a forum for knowledge and information exchange to facilitate the development of a community of practice

Youth Development

ACBI is partnering relevant stake holders to tackle youth poverty with a special focus on underprivileged youths. Youths are equipped with skills for job market and economic empowerment.

Countering Religious extremism

ACBI is countering religious extremism among religious leaders through training and interfaith dialogue among stakeholders in different faiths in Kenya and beyond
